She was also popular at her school, where she was part of the field hockey team. At the start of May, Chiara went missing in her home city. Many people took part in the search for Chiara, including her boyfriend, Manuel Mansilla. They had been dating for a couple of months, and both attended the same school. Three days later, the schoolgirl’s body was found beaten under a patio in Mansilla’s backyard. She was eight weeks pregnant, and she had been buried alive. Mansilla confessed to her murder, and as there were traces of a drug used in abortions found in her body, he was also charged with forced abortion. Nigeria paying for ignoring experienced coaches – Izilein, ex-Eaglets coach.

From playing for the Super Eagles to managing the Super Falcons and the Golden Eaglets, coaching domestic league clubs to nurturing talents at grassroots sides, he has seen it all. Godwin Izilein became a household name when he managed the defunct Asabatex in the late seventies and early eighties. With players such as Bright Omokaro, Francis Ossai, Uyimwmen Okungbowa and Amos Edoseghe, Asabatex won the state FA cup in 1980 and were the domestic runners-up the following year. They were labelled by the media as giant killers of the league and the FA Cup, after they demystified domestic league greats – Enugu Rangers, Bendel Insurance and Shooting Stars. Prior to his secondment to Asabatex , Izilein was the defunct Bendel State intermediate coach and won titles with the great Thompson Usiyen and Samuel Okpodu. Izilein replaced Willy Bazuaye at the defunct New Nigeria Bank after the deceased left the Benin side for Calabar Rovers in 1986. Izilein, who will be 70 next year

Luxembourg Prime Minister marries gay partner...

According to PUNCH NEWS,Luxembourg’s prime minister, Xavier Bettel, has become the first European Union leader- and only the second worldwide leader- to marry someone of the same sex.  Bettel,Luxembourg prime minister Image source: google Bettel, 42, and his partner, Gauthier Destenay, an architect from Belgium, have been partners since 2010. Interestingly, Luxembourg is a tiny, mostly Catholic country often considered to be conservative, France 24 said. Their union comes five years after Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir, the then prime minister of Iceland, became the first serving leader in the world to marry a same-sex partner. Bettel and Destenay, who have been civil partners since 2010, were expected to say their vows in a quiet civil ceremony with friends and family, away from the glare of publicity. “It won’t be a flashy ceremony but the symbolism’s very strong,” said French broadcaster Stéphane Bern, a friend of Bettel and Destenay. “Everyone’s warm and positive,” Bern w

Married couple, son, housekeeper killed in burning D.C. home...

A corporate executive, his wife, their 10-year-old son and a housekeeper were murdered inside of a multimillion-dollar Washington, D.C. home before it was  set ablaze Thursday, police revealed Friday. Home owners Savvas Savopolous, 46, and his wife Amy Savopolous, 47, were identified as two of the four victims — three of which suffered stab wounds or blunt-force injuries, Police Chief Cathy Lanier said. Those injuries were sustained before the large brick home — located blocks away from Vice President Joe Biden's official residence — was mysteriously torched that afternoon, Lanier said. The other two victims found inside have been tentatively identified as the couple's 10-year-old son, Philip, and 57-year-old housekeeper, Veralicia Figurera, she said. The couple had two older daughters who, according to neighbors, attend boarding schools out of state. The daughters are safe and police know their whereabouts, a police spokeswoman said. Boston Marathon Bomber Sentenced To Death...

The Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been sentenced to death for his participation in the 2013 explosion that rocked the annual race and killed three people, cost 17 people to lose at least one leg, and resulted in the injury of at least 240 others. Shortly before adjourning for deliberation in the penalty phase of trial earlier this week, the federal prosecutor had argued to the jurors that a lifetime in jail, even in the extreme conditions of supermax,  is not enough for someone who committed such a heinous crime. “The callousness and indifference that allows you to destroy people’s lives, to ignore their pain, to shrug off their heartbreak — that doesn’t go away just because you’re locked up in a prison cell,” William Weinreb said. “It’s what enables you to be a terrorist, and it’s what insulates you from feelings of remorse.” Then on Friday, at just after 3 pm and after 14 hours of deliberation, the jury returned the 24 page verdict to the judge. After the

Air Cargo Tariff To Rise By 20 Percent...

Over 70 per cent of cargoes coming into the country by air will henceforth attract a 20 per cent increase in tariff. The development followed an agreement reached by the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company and the Association of Nigeria Customs Licensed Agents in Lagos. NAHCO controls over 70 per cent of the ground handling market, while Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited, SwissPort and Precision Aviation Handling Company Limited control the remaining part. An earlier meeting between NAHCO and ANCLA on Monday had ended in a deadlock. The association had rejected the air cargo tariff increase, which was initially pegged at 30 per cent by NAHCO. The current agreement, which led to the 20 per cent increase, followed an extensive meeting between the ground handling company and leaders of the association, a statement by NAHCO said. The Vice-Chairman, ANCLA, Mr. Bola Ashiru-Balogun, said that the agreement was reached in the interest of the overall development of the indust
