Senate President, David Mark, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party will not allow the opposition, All Progressives Party, rig it out of power at the general elections in February. He has therefore asked the party members to work hard in order to guarantee victory at the various stages of the elections. Mark stated this on Saturday while addressing PDP stakeholders from the Federal Capital Territory, and states in the North Central Zone in Abuja. Mark said, “We want to win convincingly at all levels. There will be no room for any manipulation. “We as members of the PDP will not rig. According to PUNCH NEWS... The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation has said that the witness that could have nailed Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) concerning what he did when he was heading the Petroleum Trust Fund, has died. The Campaign Organisation, in a statement in Abuja on Saturday, said by saying that there was nothing amiss in the financial transactions in the PTF, former President Olusegun Obasanjo was only trying to cover up the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress. The statement was issued by the Director of Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode. Fani-Kayode said that it was therefore wrong fro Obasanjo, under whose administration he (Fani-Kayode) served as minister of aviation, to say that Buhari was a clean man. Hmmmm...This will make a good read... A peace meeting was held on Monday between President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State. At the meeting which held at Obasanjo’s hilltop residence, he was said to have put Jonathan on the hot seat, asking him five crucial questions. It was gathered that President Jonathan chose not to respond but rather pleaded for understanding and corporation, Leadership reports. During the December 2012 assault, the baby was beaten and strangled, apparently to quiet her crying, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Jessica pleaded guilty Friday to felony abuse of a child and felony murder. Felony murder means that Howell is responsible for the baby’s death because the girl died during the commission of a felony child abuse; a crime that Howell had encouraged, authorities said. The police in Lagos have arrested a man, Akodogbo Doheto, in connection with the death of a 57-year-old woman, who allegedly died in his house after the two had a sexual affair. PUNCH Metro  learnt that the incident occurred on Salu Street in the Badagry area of Lagos. Our correspondent gathered from police sources that the victim, Bonu Fiaret, who was said to be divorced, was working as a nurse in a government hospital in the area. It was learnt that 60-year-old Doheto, who hails from Badagry, had been dating Fiaret for about two years before her sudden death. The matter was reported at the Badagry Police Division. Our correspondent learnt that after Fiaret was discovered dead in Doheto’s one-room apartment on the morning of January 3, the police arrested the suspect. Volunteers  searched for victims inside a burnt out bus that collided with an oil tanker outside Karachi, Pakistan,  today. According to < NEW YORK TIMES >   A passenger bus crashed into an oil tanker in southern Pakistan early Sunday, killing 57 people with remains charred beyond recognition, officials said. Dr. Seemi Jamali, who heads the emergency section at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center in Karachi where the remains were brought, said they had received 57 bodies. Four people were also injured, she said. She said the hospital would have to do DNA tests to identify the victims. The Minister of Transportation for Sindh Province, Mir Mumtaz Hussain Jakhrani, said the crash happened when the passenger bus hit an oil tanker early Sunday about 50 kilometers (31 miles) outside of Karachi.
