FOREIGN NEWS:Family Stunned as Gunman Walks Into House and Shoots Sleeping 8-Year-Old With ‘No Motive’
Los Angeles police are still searching for a gunman that walked into a family’s home last Sunday night and shot an 8-year-old boy.
The boy is now in critical, but stable condition after being rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where he immediately went into surgery following the attack.
Police are searching for a suspect based off a loose description provided by others at the scene.
“I know that at some point he did say something. They said he was going to be OK,” the boy’s great aunt told NBC LA.
The shooter was able to enter the home through the front door, which was left unlocked as the family was expecting their 20-year-old son to return home that night, according to the boy’s father.
Following an argument with the gunman, the father ran into his son’s bedroom in effort to protect him and other family members.
The shooter followed while firing his weapon. The boy’s father did not know exactly when the boy was hit after the gunman fired a series of bullets through the bedroom door.
In the room with the 8-year-old boy was his mother and 17-year-old brother. The boy’s grandmother was also reportedly home at the time. No family member recognized the intruder, and in a residential area where crime is rare, police have little to go off of to identify either the suspect or the reason for the crime.
