Relatives of the school girls abducted April in Chibok addressed Boko Haram asking the captors to fulfill their promise.‎

It would ‎ be recalled that October 17 the Nigerian officials allegedly reached the ceasefire agreement with the dreaded Boko Haram sect. One of the .
However, after months of missing, the girls have not reunited with their families. Additionally, the hopes of Nigerians were crashed as the post-agreement week was marked by several ghastly raids by the suspected Boko Haram insurgents.
Vanguard reports that the devastated parents of the kidnap victims spoke with NAN correspondent October 28 sharing their feelings.
One of the parents identified as Shettima Haruna said:
“We have suffered immensely due to the abduction of our girls by the insurgents. Some parents have died due to heart problems caused by the kidnapping of the girls.”‎
Chibok Community leader Solomon Ali said people’s live has changed since the abduction, mentioning that the government did not tell the parents about the possible release.
“The government has not informed us about the expected release of the girls. We only heard the news in the media that the insurgents were willing to release the girls under a ceasefire with the government. “
Everyone in the community got excited upon hearing the news and regaining the new hope.
“We began to develop interest in the issue when the media carried the news but we were disappointed that nothing has happened yet. Up till this moment nobody has contacted us to say what actually happened. Even the local government chairman has no information about the issue, because I spoke with him in the morning.”
Still, all community residents and the girls’ relatives keep praying and believing that their children will soon come back home. Ali said:
“We have taken our problem to our creator because all human efforts
have failed in rescuing our children. It is only God that has the power to help rescue our girls and we believe he will help us.”
