Tension heightened at the premises of Kaduna State House of Assembly and Kachia town of the state yesterday following alleged attempt by some members of the House to impeach the Speaker, Usman Tahir.
There was also emotions and anxiety among the people as heavily armed soldiers stopped people from attending a protest rally against the state Governor, Mukhtar Yero billed to hold at the hall of St. John’s Church, Kachia, Kachia Local Government Area of the state.
Although details of what transpired in the House remained scanty at press time, police blocked the entrance into the state Assembly complex
Armed policemen and other security agencies were seen around the Lugard Hall, which serves as the House of Assembly.
When contacted, spokesman, state police command, SP Aminu Lawan, said the security beef up was a normal security routine and there was no cause for alarm.
However, plenary session of the Assembly was held inside the chambers, while the stern looking operatives kept vigil at the entrance to forestall any break down of law and order.
It was also gathered that during the session a bill for the law to establish the Kaduna State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, 2013 and the repeal of edit Number 2 of 1994, passed through second reading.
