Why you Need Olive Oil...A Must Read!!!!!

Most of us do not know much about Olive oil neither are we aware of its benefits...So I decided to do a little research on it and culled some texts from infogoons...Enjoy!!!

Olive oil is a rich source of different polyphenols like simple phenols, terpenes, flavones, hydroxycinnamic acids, anthocyanins, flavonols, flavonoid glycosides, lignans and hydroxybenzoic acids. These compounds work as both antioxidants and anti-inflammatory nutrients in the body.

Olive oil is a very good natural oil and it has diverse health benefits that we all need to explore. It is one of the best sources of monounsaturated fats which is the type of fat that is very good for the body. That is what your nutritionist and doctors will advise you to consume to prevent you from various diseases

Now you know...Let's talk about its benefits

Health Benefits Of Olive Oil

  • It is good for your heart
Olive oil lowers your cholesterol level which narrows the arteries.  It is the commonest cause of high blood pressure. At the same time, olive oil increases HDL (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol in the body, which plays a protective role and helps prevent unwanted blood clotting, a key reason behind heart attacks and strokes. If you want to enjoy the optimal level of this particular benefit, you should substitute your saturated cooking oil to olive oil. It may be expensive but will be worth it.

  • It helps  to prevent some types of cancer
Olives are a great source of vitamin E, which has the brilliant ability to neutralize free radicals in body fat. Especially when working with the stable monounsaturated fats found in olives, vitamin E can make cellular processes safer. When such processes such as mitochondrial energy production are not well protected, the free radicals produced can cause oxidation, damaging a cell’s mitochondria, and preventing the cell from producing enough energy to supply its needs. If the DNA of a cell is damaged, it may well mutate and become cancerous. Studies have shown that a diet supplemented with olive oil leads to a lower risk of colon cancer, almost as low a risk as a diet rich in fish oil.
  • It serve as a pain killer
Olive oil contains a compound called oleocanthal that can mimic the properties of Ibuprofen which is a very potent analgesic. It has good anti-inflammatory properties just like Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
  • It helps in reducing one’s weight
High cholesterol level is a sign of being overweight and just by switching to unsaturated fatty acids, you are already on the pathway to reducing your weight.
  • It helps in managing diabetes
This particular claim is still being researched to understand the real mechanism behind this management but a switch to unsaturated fatty acid and reduction in carbohydrate sounds like a combination to fight diabetes.
  • It protects your skin
Olives are rich in fatty acids and antioxidants that nourish, hydrate and protect. Chief among those is vitamin E. Whether applied topically or ingested, vitamin E has been shown to protect skin from ultraviolet radiation, thus guarding against skin cancer and premature aging. You can gain a healthy, glowing complexion by washing your face in warm water, applying a few drops of olive oil to vulnerable spots, and letting it work its magic for 15 minutes before rinsing it off.
  • It helps in conditioning your hair
Olive oil is a good hair conditioner and you can use it by mixing it with an egg yolk and leaving it before rinsing and washing.
In general, you can add olive your routine activities. By using it on your skin, drinking a little daily and using it to cook your foods, you will be amazed by the results.
Stay Healthy!!
